Beach Bag

A couple of weeks ago, when I went to the school to help out with the Elves outfits, I was using one of my Cath Kidston bags to carry all my sewing things in. One of the Mum's there was interested in a bag similar to send as a gift to her sister who lives in Portugal. For the beach.
So this morning, after I had cut out my dress (while the electric was being changed over, so therefore off), I made this bag. Lining it for the first time with two compartments, one of them being made of shower curtain so that she can use it for wet costumes.

I took a gamble at mixing some Clarke and Clarke fabric with some Cath Kidston. Hopefully it works. I have also added my long awaited for "Cow" button, and a keyring holder.

Fingers crossed its what she wants. But if not I am sure it will sell else where.

I have also added some Cow buttons to a few wallets that I made a few weeks ago. Seems I have been waiting for these buttons for a very long time!

My Cath Kidston order from the 23rd June is still not here, and I rang them to ask. Apparantly the sale is going much better then they expected and they are snowed under, so my things should be in the post at the moment. Some were dispatched yesterday, and some is coming out today.! mmmm

Creations for the shops

Well over the last week, I have managed to get my work looked at, and approved for a couple of local shops. So I have been tweeking them, and also making some other bits and pieces.

I am hoping to get more work done tomorrow.

Website start up!

Well I am mad, I do not have any stock, but I have started my own website! Eek, I am not skilled, I do not have a clue what I am doing and it took me hours to get it done, when they say it can be done in 15 minutes. (Yes if your a computer bofin!).
Anyway its there. Now I need to make the stock.
I went charity shop hopping this afternoon, and bought a few bits and pieces, and then called into the new Mews shops in the town. Never been in there. Was talking to the proprieter of one that sold the "shabby Chic" style things. She was interested in the fact that I sew, and will take a look at my stuff, (If I actually get around to making it), and if she is interested she takes a 30% commission. So it sounds like its a little foot in the door to go back with a few bits and pieces using my Cath Kidston fabrics, tanya wheelan, and all those brands that the shabby chic lot are after.
I also spent about £15 in her shop buying a few bits I like. I will photograph, A sign that says that Grandmothers are just antique little girls. Which I thought summed me up sometimes.!

WEAVING TIES

Well while I was sitting watching the tv yesterday, I decided to experiment with the left over pieces fo the ties, used for the Tie Bag that has been talked about on the mse threads.

So here is a quick picture of what I was on about.
Think my second picture is more infocus.
You all know that I dont like throwing things out, so here I have reused the ties,, and will probably make them into either a cushion or another type of bag, but they are quite thick and heavy, so that may be what limits me to what i do. (And of course finding enough ties to do much else). There are the ends of 10 ties here.
All these ties were my Dads, so to me they are quite personal. If I was to do it, with a theme in mind they may be more appealing to the eye.

I also made a quick small tote, (no internal or external pockets) while the end of the football was on the TV last night.

This fabric was also gifted to me and was from rucksack covers. The back is actually folded to show the eyelets.

I hope to be creating more things with the rest of the fabric, and have cut out the lining of a small bag, (also from the ties- before i decided to weave the rest).

Mad Hatters

Well after the first hat, I have made a second one, this one is reversible, (well except for where my label is!).
This is so she can have one left at the nursery school for sunny days. so of course today it has started to thunder and lightning etc etc. Mind you we do need the water.!

i realised that the pattern is one dimensional, so I should have cut the underside of the rim upside down so that when the hat is turned up, then the picture is the correct way around. But all in all I dont think that it distracts from the overall cuteness of it.!

Finished outfit at last!

Well this is the end result of the outfit, (minus the hat for thats at nursery).

I think that it took me quite a while as I had plenty of interruptions but I think that the hat took about 1 1/2 hours, the top took me 3 hours and the trousers an interrrupted 2 1/4 hours, so probably would be about 1 1/2 hours if I was all ready and had no interruptions, and now I know what I am doing as well.!

The trousers are a litle long, but I made age 5 and she is only 3, but I can always turn them up a bit. she insisted on her peppa pig slippers and not her shoes though! And now I cannot get the outfit off of her. (It may have to be washed tomorrow so that its clean when she goes to see her grandad at the weekend.).
I have been talking with my friend and she is going to help me to update and organise this blog, and show me what i can do as I am hopeless. So thats probably going to be sometime next week, during half term.
I have so many ideas running through my head. I cannot wait to get my act together and get working properly with my fabrics and my bits and bobs.
